Wildflower Seed Balls

What is a Seed Ball?

a Seed Ball is a mini ecosystem protecting your seeds from birds, ants and slugs.  The Seed ball also provides nutrition as they germinate and grow.  Wildlife and Birdcare have over 100 wildflower seeds per ball.  Our seed balls are truffle size nice and big to provide you with over 1 metre sq of wildflower meadow.

How to sow the Seed Balls?

When you are ready and best between the months of March - October simple soak and throw you seeds balls where you have chosen to grow you wildflower meadow.  Once the seed balls have hit the ground, just let nature take it course.  Water the seed balls and see what happens.  In a few days you should start to see the seed balls sprout.  Nurture the new sprouts, keep on watering and soon your wildflowers will start to appear covering your designated area with a wildflower meadow.

In our sets there is enough spare seeds to make another 4-6 seed balls which we call ‘magic’ as we think this mini-eco system is quiet magical how these tiny seed balls actually protect your seeds allowing them to grow.  Packets of seeds are quiet expensive these days and if you just sew the seeds you can guarantee most of them will get eaten by the birds and other insects.  The seed balls at least protect the seeds giving them time to germinate, sprout and grow.
